"My husband, Larry, is the victim of numerous strokes over a long period of time and, after caring for him at home for ten years, I finally had to resort to placing him in a facility. This was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. My daughter and I checked out every facility in the Chico area with available bed space. The first one we visited was Riverside Convalescent Hospital and were given an excellent tour. After a lengthy search of the others, it was obvious we should have saved ourselves the trouble and quit while we were ahead! We left each of the other facilities feeling totally depressed and returned to Riverside grateful that they still had a room available.

It was a devastating decision for me to leave him anywhere, but the people at Riverside were so kind and helpful that they eased me through the heartache of those first months, understanding the terrible guilt feelings that I'm sure everyone has in these situations. After nearly two years, the entire staff have become my "second family." And I appreciate them so very much. His care has been excellent and even minor problems are attended to without hesitation. I am there every day at lunchtime and the kitchen crew does an exceptional job, serving food worthy of anyone's table.

After caring for my wife in our home for fourteen years during her mental and physical decline due to Alzheimer's disease, it became more than obvious that I could not longer do so. It was with extreme dread and anxiety that I looked for and found an available opening at Riverside Convalescent Hospital. She has now been in the care of this facility for almost 2 years. I could not be more pleased with the quality of care and demonstrated love and concern given to her by the entire staff.

I have come to know the staff and so many of the other residents as wonderful friends. I must admit that I look forward to my daily visits as the highlight of each day. No day goes by but that I thank God for the folks at Riverside Convalescent Hospital and the skilled and loving care they give to my dear wife.
